Minimum order quantity is most useful when its unit is clear. Before comparing two quotations, ask whether the stated minimum applies to the full order, each style, each colour or a particular material. The same headline quantity can describe very different order plans.
Break the order into its parts
Start with a simple style list. For each style, record the estimated total quantity, colour breakdown and size range. Mark anything that is still undecided. This gives the supplier a concrete order structure to review and makes it easier to identify which part of the brief needs adjustment.
For example, an order spread across several silhouettes and colours is not automatically equivalent to the same total quantity in one silhouette and one colour. Ask how the proposed breakdown affects the project rather than assuming that the total alone determines feasibility.
Discuss materials alongside quantities
Ask whether your preferred fabric is available or needs to be developed or ordered specifically. Clarify whether custom colours, trims, labels or packaging introduce separate requirements. The garment order and the material purchase may need to be reviewed together.
If an initial plan is difficult to produce, discuss possible changes without assuming they will always solve the issue. Options worth reviewing may include fewer colours, a different available fabric or a more focused first collection. Confirm how any change affects the intended look and customer experience.
Separate a sample request from a production order
A sample is part of development and evaluation. Its availability, cost and approval process should be discussed separately from the production quantity. Ask what the sample stage includes, what happens if a revision is needed and which decisions must be confirmed before production planning.
Get the agreed basis in writing
When you receive a quotation, check the style references, materials, colours, sizes and quantities it covers. Ask which changes would require a new review. This is more useful than relying on a minimum quantity copied from a general marketing page.
For a JH project, share your proposed quantity by style and colour, even if it is an estimate. We can use that information to discuss the development brief and the next questions to resolve. Project-specific requirements need to be confirmed before an order proceeds.
